This version of the Alitalia Airbus A321 has a convertible cabin layout for flexibility in accommodating different numbers of Ottima-class passengers.When the rows 1-8 are used for economy class, the middle 'B" and 'E" seats are converted back to passenger use. Due to the construction and design, there are more seams and less padding in these middle seats, making them less comfortable, with the only benefit of the slightly increased legroom.
